Global Village Sets an Ideal Platform for Philippines Tourism Representation Office

The Republic of the Philippines’ Department of Tourism, Middle East Representation Office in Dubai, is collaborating with Global Village, the region’s leading Cultural, Shopping and Entertainment family outdoor destination. Within the framework of its current tourism promotion campaign “It’s More Fun in the Philippines”, the office has chosen to showcase a number of shows every Friday at Global Village’s World Culture Stage. In its third consecutive week for the event which has kicked off on 8 February, the last of the one-hour shows will be showcased next Friday, 1^st of March 2013.  

Being the first large scale initiative, the Philippines Tourism Representation Office has sought to promote the country’s tourism via featuring cultural shows at the park which attract visitors from the region with diverse demographics. “Global Village sets the ideal platform for such a culturally based initiative as it attracts the right target audience for our tourism campaign of promoting the Republic of the Philippines. Through our folk shows we try to convey our country’s beauty with its breathtaking nature, seas and islands. We also avail to tourists a number of sport and cultural activities for spending an ideal holiday”, said Philippines Consul-General H.E. Frank Cimafranca, who was attending the third cultural show at Global Village last Friday .       

The recital, despite the cliché of folk, hip hop and carnival replicas, blends in harmony to convey the phases of evolution, growth and development of an archipelago comprising more than seven thousand islands.  

Saeed Ali Bin Redha, Global Village CEO commented: “We welcome cultural initiatives at Global Village as it falls within the park’s vision of bringing cultural diversity of nations and civilizations together. We are pleased to portray new and diverse folk and authentic cultures, and are proud to share a cultural platform for collaboration with the Philippines’ Department of Tourism Representation - Regional Office in Dubai.”

On the other hand, Philippines Consul-General expressed his thanks for the park’s management collaboration and for hosting the folk shows. “I was pleased to see people from different parts of the world and the region gathered to watch our folk shows. Many have gone to the assigned kiosk to ask for information about the Philippines. I think we will consider collaborating with Global Village again in the future either by having a bigger stronger representation through the pavilion or featuring more folk shows”, added the consul-general.

Philippines Department of Tourism, Middle East Representation Office has organized the shows and is supported by the Philippines Embassy in Abu Dhabi. The performers of the shows are talented volunteers who live in the UAE and have stepped in to showcase their country’s best to locals, residents and GCC visitors.

The usual cultural shows will continue at Global Village without change and according to the daily entertainment schedule that can be obtained from the Information Kiosks around the park.
